Customs - Export and Import: NZ Customs Consultation on Proposed Goods Clearance Fee Increases

Mar 10

New Zealand Customs have announced that the goods clearance fees for Importers and Exporters will increase from 1 July 2008. The new proposed fees are as follows

Importers
The Import Entry Transaction Fee is increasing from NZD22.00 to NZD24.75 per cargo entry. Two import fees remain unchanged-the Inward Cargo Transaction Fees for sea and air remain at NZD352.00 and NZD30.00 per transaction respectively

Exporters
The fee for Secure Export Scheme (SES) members will increase from NZD4.00 to NZD10.00 per cargo entry, and the fee for non-SES members will increase from NZD5.75 to NZD14.25 per cargo entry. The Outward Cargo Transaction Fees for air and sea will increase from NZD11.25 to NZD22.50 and NZD3.75 to NZD7.50 per cargo entry, respectively.

Customs is now embarking on consultation and communication about the regulations that will provide for these fee increases.

We recommend that all importers and exporters view the consultation document and put forward any feedback, as in some cases the fees will more than double.

The document has been published on the NZ Customs website, www.customs.govt.nz/about/news for viewing, or you can request a hard copy from Phil Lockwood, New Zealand Customs Service, PO Box 2218, Wellington or email phil.lockwood@customs.govt.nz
