ASIA – IMPORT SEAFREIGHT

Nov 03

Market conditions have softened and as a result most shipping lines did not proceed with the planned 4th quarter general rate increases.

The fuel surcharges are finally dropping with most lines charging between US$ 695 and US$ 725 per TEU from the Far East.

BAFs from South East Asian ports are a little higher with most being at US$ 800 per 20ft and US$ 1600 per 40ft.

Expect further reductions in December.
Chinese new year is early next year beginning January 26th - so anticipate the usual pressure on space from China building to that date.
