Overview of Imports from Asia

Dec 03

Space remains tight from all ports , however the back logs should begin to clear soon as the seasonal cargo tapers off. We have heard of no upcoming increases to Ocean Freight at this stage and feel that costs have reached their peak for this year.

The BAF for South East Asia remains unchanged at this stage but the North Asia BAF will be increasing on the 11th of December to US$ 20 per w/m. Hapag Lloyd have announced that they are going to end their Peak Season Surcharge at the end of this month.

It is doubtful that other carriers will follow suit at this stage as most were still relatively full, however this situation could change as volumes ease leading into Christmas.
