Export Seafreight - Animal & Dairy Products

Mar 03

We have been advised by our Export Packing Depots of some issues regarding the Identification of Dairy and Animal Products on receipt.

There are specific rules and regulations around the storage, handling and export of these products.

There have been a variety of recent issues where product was not identified as Animal or Dairy Product on the inbound documentation, specifically the Carters Notes.

As a consequence, the product has been loaded and exported without adherance to the appropriate preocedures. This creates significant issues at the destiation and can result in product being seized, destroyed or at least delayed.

To prevent any further misidentification, it is imperative that all carters notes for these products now clearly include the notatation/s:

**Animal Product **
( For products such as meat, fish, skins, fibres, bee products, pharmaceutical or industrial products )

or
** Dairy Product **
( For products such as milk powder, milk products, yoghurt, AMF, caseinates, colostrums etc )
*** See note below re Dairy Product pre-advice timeframes.

Whilst the Packing Depots will try to intercept all these cargos at the time of receipt, the cargo description plays a vital role in achieving this.

*** Please note – All pack depots still require 24 hours prior notice of dairy product arriving with them. ( There no Electronic Decs for Dairy Products as there are for Animal Products )

THE NZFSA Website has a full listing all all reslated prducts and information on same.

If you have any queries or require further information regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Mondiale Export Seafreight Team on 256 4111.
