Space / Equipment

Jul 06

Last year the capacity in and out of New Zealand was reduced significantly as a direct result of the global financial crisis. Since then some vessels have been replaced by larger vessels and this trend will continue.

However this relatively small increase in capacity is still far behind the demand for space as global trade recovers. The financial crisis also resulted in the reduction in manufacture of containers and whilst the manufacture is now being increased there is and will be for some time a global shortage of empty containers - especially 20ft / 40ft HC ex Asia.
