Implementation of Congestion Surcharge ex Fos Sur Mer, France to NZ

Aug 12

The port of Fos Sur Mer, France is facing severe congestion which unfortunately causes inconveniences and delays. This congestion is a direct result of strike action by terminal workers at Fos Sur Mer port causing lower port productivity and berthing delays. Current waiting time is at minimum of five days. In response to this situation please note that effective 5th August 2010 a Port Congestion Surcharge will be applied at the following levels to all cargo loaded/discharged at Fos Sur Mer, France.

This will be applicable to all cargo (reefer and dry) :-

Maersk USD 150 per TEU
Cosco USD 100 per TEU

We are almost certain that other lines will follow suit at similar levels.
The congestion situation is beyond our control and we regret any inconveniences caused to you.

We are closely monitoring the situation and hope that unions conclude discussions as soon as possible.
