Additional Direct service from Asia to New Zealand

Jul 26

Currently, there is only one direct sailing from China and Hong Kong to New Zealand on a weekly basis. This service is operated by a consortium of shipping carriers, namely Cosco, Hamburg Sud, NYK, Mitsui (MOL) and Hapag Lloyd.

With effect from this week, CMA/CGM in conjunction with ANL, will start operating their own direct service in competition with the above. This will be on a fortnightly basis, until such time that all the vessels have been introduced into the new service in late August. From September onwards, the frequency will be upgraded to weekly. Their southbound vessel rotation will be Port Kelang, Shenzhen (Chiwan port), Shanghai and Busan to New Zealand. It is important to note that their transit times compare favourably against the current direct service from Northern China ports and Korea only.
