Lyttelton Tunnel has re-opened - the Port is also working
The Lyttelton Tunnel was re-opened after safety inspections around 2pm this afternoon.
The Port company has also confirmed the Port is still undergoing safety inspections, but operations has resumed in the meantime. - See excerpt from their latest update below:
LPC ASSESSING DAMAGE FOLLOWING AFTERSHOCK
Following the 5.0 magnitude aftershock experienced in Christchurch at 11:32am today, Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) engineers and maintenance staff are currently assessing the port for damage as is procedure following each major aftershock.
The port has not been evacuated as reported by some media.
All current port operations have recommenced.
