Christchurch - Port of Lyttelton - Status Update

Pickups and deliveries around Christchurch are proceeding, subject to access limitations and safety concerns.

The container Terminals are receiving and releasing as normal.

It is aniticipated that container vessels will be able to berth over the coming weekend.

Obviously these vessells will be late in/late out and delays are inevitable.

An excerpt from the latest Port of Lyttelton status update is below.

Wednesday 15 June 2011 1730 hours

Since the 5.7 and 6.3 magnitude earthquakes on Monday, our engineering and civil maintenance staff, and supporting consultants, have been working through detailed assessments across all of our assets. Now we are moving forward on a programme of prioritised work.

Our goal is to return services safely and as soon as possible. Once again, thank you to all of our customers for their understanding and patience.

Receival and delivery of containers continues to operate as normal and full rail services have recommenced.

Vessel operations remain suspended and we envisage this will return to normal after midday Friday.

Berthing windows have been suspended until further notice.
