Import USA to NZ (East Coast/US Gulf) – Possible Pending Strike Action

As a new contract has not yet been signed between the ILA and USMX we are forced to advise that effective 30th December 2012, if a port strike goes ahead, a Strike Surcharge will be introduced. This surcharge will only apply to bookings where the controlling party has requested or agreed to be loaded via an alternate routing due to the closure of certain Eastern Coast and Gulf ports.

* Emergency routing of cargo via US West Coast ports will be a subject to a USD 45 per w/m surcharge
* Emergency routing of cargo via Canadian/Mexican ports will be subject to a USD 70 per w/m surcharge

Brennan/Mondiale will have an established Intermodal network and is prepared to ship freight via alternate multi modal routes to ensure the continuous flow of cargo. The alternate routings and contingent loads are subject to the underlying carriers maintaining service levels, as well as, vessels/rail/space and equipment availability.

This surcharge will take affect for cargo received on/after 30th December 2012.

We are hopeful that any labour dispute is averted, and there will be no need for this surcharge. However we want to assure you that Mondiale/Brennan is planning ahead for a worse case scenario.

As always we will keep you updated with developments as they occur.

In regards to Exports into the USA, we will keep you advised of any potential surcharges.
